When many people hear the term facelift, they envision walking into a surgeon’s office and walking out looking younger. Unfortunately, this is not how it works. A facelift involves many different aspects of a person’s appearance. In fact, making a person’s face appear younger is more of a process than a simple surgery.
Drooping eyelids or bags under the eyes can make a person look more tired than they feel and can also add a few years to their appearance. Eyelid surgery or an eyelid tuck, also known as blepharoplasty can take years off a person’s appearance making the patient look younger and fresher. In addition to removing excess skin and possibly some fat from the upper eyelids to reduce drooping eyes, blepharoplasty can also reshape the lower lid to reduce puffiness.
Rhinoplasty, or a “nose job” as it is known colloquially, is most often used to remove a hump or a bump and reshape the tip of the patient’s nose. In many cases, the nose will also be made smaller. This is one of the most common procedures performed in the plastic surgery world and in our offices, and is one of the few procedures we can recommend for teenagers as well as adults.
