Liposuction in Lexington, KY

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove stubborn pockets of fat that do not respond to diet and exercise. While highly effective for body contouring, liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure and is not intended for patients who are significantly overweight.

In some cases, particularly following pregnancy, liposuction alone may not adequately address loose skin or muscle separation. For post-pregnancy abdominal concerns, liposuction is often combined with Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) to achieve optimal contour and long-lasting results.

Benefits Of Liposuction

  • Targeted Fat Reduction: Certain areas of the body store fat regardless of weight loss or exercise. Liposuction allows for the precise removal of fat from these resistant areas when other methods have failed.
  • Body Reshaping: Genetics can influence where fat accumulates, often in areas such as the thighs, waist, arms, neck, or back. Liposuction can significantly improve contour, proportion, and how clothing fits.
  • Improved Confidence: By addressing areas that cause frustration or self-consciousness, many patients feel more confident and comfortable in their appearance following liposuction.

*Individual results may vary.

Is Liposuction a Weight-Loss Solution?

Liposuction is not a substitute for weight loss and should not be viewed as an alternative to a healthy lifestyle. Ideal candidates are individuals who have achieved or are close to their goal weight but struggle with localized fat deposits due to genetics or body composition.

Realistic expectations are essential. Liposuction refines the contour; it does not replace diet, exercise, or long-term weight management.

Common Liposuction Treatment Areas

  • Upper outer thighs (saddlebags)
  • Flanks (love handles / muffin top)
  • Inner thighs
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Knees
  • Submental area (under the chin/neck)

Candidates For Liposuction:

Ideal candidates typically include individuals who:

  • Are at a stable, healthy weight
  • Have firm, elastic skin.
  • Have persistent areas of fat resistant to diet and exercise.
  • Are in good overall health

Skin elasticity is an important consideration, as liposuction does not tighten loose skin. In some cases, complementary procedures may be recommended to enhance results.

How Is Liposuction Surgery Performed?

  • Consultation: Your experience begins with a comprehensive consultation to discuss goals, evaluate anatomy, and determine whether liposuction alone or in combination with other procedures is most appropriate.
  • Procedure: Liposuction is performed as an outpatient procedure in our fully accredited, in-office surgical suite.
  • Post-Operative Care: Patients typically wear a compression garment for several weeks to support healing and optimize contour.
  • Recovery: Most patients return to work within 7–10 days. Vigorous exercise and strenuous activity are generally resumed after three to four weeks, depending on healing.
