A breast lift, also known as mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and firm the breasts by improving shape, position, and contour. This procedure can restore a more youthful appearance and enhance confidence, particularly after changes related to pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss, or natural aging.
Over time, breasts may lose volume and elasticity, leading to sagging and downward positioning. A breast lift repositions the breasts and nipples to a higher, more natural location while preserving proportion and balance.

Good Candidates For A Breast Lift
Most women experiencing breast sagging are good candidates for a breast lift. Ideal candidates are generally:
- Non-smokers
- In good overall health
- At or near a stable, healthy weight
A personalized consultation is essential to determine candidacy and discuss individual goals.
Why Undergo A Breast Lift
Patients may consider a breast lift for a variety of reasons, including:
- Pendulous Breasts: Breasts with a longer, flatter shape despite adequate volume
- Loss of Firmness: Breasts that feel soft or lack structural support
- Downward-Pointing Nipples: Nipples that sit at or below the breast crease without support
- Stretched Skin: Common after pregnancy or significant weight loss
- Asymmetry: One breast positioned higher or lower than the other
- Tubular Breast Shape: Narrow breasts with enlarged areolae, often addressed with a combined breast lift and augmentation
The Breast Lift Procedure
- Anesthesia: Breast lift surgery is typically performed under IV sedation in our fully accredited, in-office surgical suite.
- Surgery: During the procedure, carefully placed incisions are used to remove excess skin, reshape the breast tissue, and reposition the nipples to a natural, aesthetically pleasing height. Areola size may also be adjusted based on individual anatomy and preference.
- Closure: Once reshaping is complete, incisions are closed and a supportive dressing is applied. This is typically replaced with a surgical bra the following day.
- Follow-Up Care: Patients are usually seen the day after surgery, again at one week, and at three weeks, three months, and six months to monitor healing and results.
- Recovery & Activity: Most patients return to work within approximately one week. Exercise and athletic activity may typically resume after four weeks, depending on individual healing.
