Chemical Peel

Would you like to improve the feel of your skin? Do you want to make your face feel smoother and help it return to its natural beauty and healthy glow? A chemical peel might be exactly what you need!

What To Expect From a Chemical Peel?

Receiving a chemical peel can help reduce wrinkles and help rejuvenate cells not only on your face, but other areas of your body.  Having a chemical peel also helps decrease clogged pores, reduce acne scarring, generate new collagen and smooth fine lines.

Types of Chemical Peels

There are several different types of chemical peels:

  • Alpha hydroxy acid
  • Beta hydroxy acid
  • Jessner’s Peel
  • Trichloroacetic acid

Having an acid chemical peel may sound scary because of the name itself.  But, these chemical peels are pain free with very few side effects that fade quickly.  Depending on the type of peel you have, you may suffer from slight stinging, mild redness or dryness in the area for a short amount of time.  Side effects may vary from one peel to another. Their lasting effects are far more beneficial than the possible negative side effects.

What Does a Chemical Peel Actually Do?

Chemical peels treat areas of dryness, reduce uneven pigmentation, help control acne, reduce rough skin, improve sun damaged skin, remove unsightly blemishes, help remove facial freckles, smooth out deep wrinkle and even remove precancerous growths.

There are varying types of chemical peels that range from mild to moderately aggressive.  The type of peel tells you how deep into the skin the peel will penetrate.

  • The alpha hydroxy acids do not penetrate into the skin as deeply as the Jessner peel or other Beta Hydroxy peels.
  • The Trichloroacetic peels range from medium to deep in depth. The acid is directly applied to the skin of the problem area, and the length of time that it remains on the skin depends on the amount of work you would prefer to have done.

As with any type of skin boosting procedure, you may need to repeat the procedure several times over the course of a few weeks to reach the desired affect. The varying types of acids help to exfoliate the skin and leave newly formed layers of skin.
